Church of Evangelistria (Annunciation)
The small church of Evangelistria (Annunciation), near the Metropolis, was built in the 15th c. and was once a a mortuary whose churchyard was used as a cemetary. Chatzidakis notes that it is the only church in Mystras that has no documents that can identify its historical importance.
It is a two-column cross in square building with little exterior decoration. Like Agios Demetrios the walls are of the cloisonné style and its dome reslembles that of Agios Sophia in Mystras. It also has a narthex with a women's gallery.
Few wall paintings have survived. Chatzidakis writes that the paintings are of the Palaiologue tradition/style: elegance and grace.
